Yes...I went to see it in tarn about 1969 70 ish...totally underwhelmed by it, the photo's actually make it look like a whale , I remember it looking like a great blob of black tar , unrecognisable as a whale. If I remember rightly it was displayed in the old market area///roughly where the covered outdoor stall are.
I remember going to see it too and the date was deffo late 60s think maybe also about the same time they also brought a cow into town which they milked on the spot so all the kids got a glass of fresh milk. But that was entertainment themdays
Never lost my copy, read it a number of times and still enjoy it. Wonder what happened to all the posters that are mentioned
The board was better in those days, some balmy posters and threads, no one really slagged anyone elso off to the degree which happens daily now...and the book, great read......I saw the whale in Kendal, early 70's
I went to primary school with Steve. We also went to holgate but he was in the brainy classes whereas..... Haven't seen him since school days although I see his younger brother occasionally
