That Paul Hart was very experienced when he came to Barnsley, Spackman was and lets be reight, Keith Hill was hardly a new comer to this management lark was he, he's been in charge at rochdale since 2006 (231 games). Perhaps experience doesnt always mean ability.
In my opinion, which could be wrong, we need experience because of the league position. Hill came in at the end of a season in which we had done ok. can't remember the other two. Bottom of the league halfway through a season is not somewhere for a guy new to managing to start
Best three Barnsley managers in my lifetime by some considerable distance: Alan Clarke (first time around) Norman Hunter Danny Wilson All three were new to management when they took over. Doesn't mean if we go down that route again it will work. And I'm not saying that is what we should do. What I am saying is that it definitely can work.
Paul Hart wasnt experienced either. He only managed Chesterfield, coached leeds academy and then managed forest.
Dave Bassett was one of the best managers weve had. He built a team with a good spine and nearly took us back to the premiership. Id av him back now just to save us this season
As a manager ... In my opinion yes he is! Win much? Many promotions? How many good seasons did he have?
