I like our style of play and our passing has improved greatly since the Capello era. Great start and two good shots pretty much on target from Sterling and Gerrard. It seemed a shame that nothing was done to shore up the left side of our defence and the only obvious change would have been Milner on for Rooney, as he will defend more resolutely. It was a change which needed to be made. The problem was that the score at 60 minutes was always likely to be the result. You could see the players wilting in that climate and humidity. Even if we were to fail to win any game, I would keep Roy Hodgson as manager. I like what he is building and his philosophy as to how the game should be played and, after all, we are scarcely a world football super-power these days. Had it been a draw at 60 minutes, it would have been a draw at the end.

I enjoyed the game and thought England played better than I've seen for quite some time at a World Cup. In fact, there's been a great deal of enjoyable attacking flair shown at this tournament, which will hopefully continue.

    As usual - good effort.

As usual - no end product.

The problem this time was the insistence on keeping Rooney & Gerrard on the pitch till the end - when it was clear (to me) both needed subbing.

Firstly - Sturridge was the 3rd substitution - no more allowed after that. Already subbed Henderson for Wilshire and Welbeck for Lallana. Keeping Gerrard and Rooney on the pitch - who both looked out of it imho.

I stand corrected about Sturridge....Beer amnesia!.....if Gerrard and Rooney were subbed, who would you have replaced them with?....

Well - Barkley did look good when he came on, & Wilshire offered us nothing. So Barkley & Lambert for Rooney & Gerrard, go 4-4-2 with Lambert & Welbeck up front. Wouldn't have taken Henderson off, looked like Gerrard was tiring all 2nd half - as did Rooney from about 60 mins.

[All easy in hindsight of course]

Hindsight..yes its a lovely thing....Agree about Wilshere, Barkley played well, maybe Lambert could've done a job for the last 30...Hopefully The Ox will be fit on thursday. however I still think we will beat Uruguay and Costa Rica...time will tell.
