Can January Fix This Squad?

    Not for my money.

I rate Scowen as above average for this league. Hourihane contributes, but I'd only have him as an averagely good player at this level. Sam did well in League Two, but lacks the pace or the physicality to be any better than average in this division. Hammill is potentially better than League One standard, but whether he will stay and/or remain consistent are big question marks. The rest of the squad for me are struggling to reach even averagely good League One standard. That's born out by our dreadful performances and results. I can't see that we will be able to bring in the five or so players to turn this around, even if the club were to belatedly invest in better players. The recruitment efforts to date would not encourage that view. We are not the attraction we once were, and anyone we target will have to be prepared to possibly be playing in the bottom tier next season. Not being negative - that's just genuinely how I see it.

We have the basis of a half decent squad and with someone who has half a clue managing them I'm sure we would climb out of this mess.
I will be interested to see the club's strategy in January regards transfers.
Will we still persist with even more loans?
Probably in which case if LJ is still here it will be time to lock the gates and chuck away the key.

I don't think they will splash the cash, so maybe a couple more loans. It's possible to avoid the dreaded drop but the longer they leave him in charge, the less possible it becomes

Tend to agree Mr Kaht. A mediocre squad that needs several additions, but a bottom of the league club will struggle to recruit. Utter shambles.

Correct. Who do you think we are going to recruit if we couldn't get them over the line in the summer? If you are a player with choices, would you come?

Plus, don't forget we might actually lose players, if hourihane and hammill leave we have had it.

Why we got so many loans when the window was open was totally baffling to me. It's now a club dying on its arse with a negative manager. Even hammill was back defending corners on Saturday when we were losing again.

I just wish we could see some positive intent, even if we lose, it's better than this tripe and we are going down if nothing changes.

I'm hoping the 'fix' that'll be required in the New Year won't be as big as some fear. For sure we need strengthening, especially from the keeper down through the spine of the team.

Theres one way to fix this and we dont need to wait til january to do it, think we all know what it is. The squad we have is good enough to be challenging at the top end of this league if they had someone in charge who knew what they were doing and didnt drain every bit of confidence from them.

Lets throw in hypathetical Stones sale scenario... Barca, Arsenal, Madrid, United and Chelsea all in a bidding war. Stones sold for £100m to Madrid. Thats £15m to the Reds... Do we keep Johnson? I don't believe we would... And wouldn't trust him and Ben to spend wisely.

    Actions
    1. New Manager
    2. Get rid of loanees
    3. Sign a Big, commanding, No nosense CB. McShane type.
    3. Sign a Holding midfielder
    4. Extend Hammill and Jacksons contracts
    5. Sign an experienced fullback who can play left/right and Let Wabara go.
    6. Most importantly a couple of old fashioned strikers. A big physical old fashioned hard hard working targetman (e.g. Jabo/Waring), and a poacher (they may do naff all outside the both but get a chance and they finish).

In many ways, that is the ultimate recovery scenario. But the reality is that if that big deal did come off, it would be after a serious bidding war and very likely only at the eleventh hour. The transfer window would be all but closed, and it would probably take a long time for BFC's share to come through in any event. So we would continue to be in Limbo, probably acting indecisively in the transfer window, and ultimately continuing our sleepwalk towards League Two.

Some will say that's a negative/pessimistic way of viewing matters. I would say it is founded on long experience of following the way BFC is run.

We've probably already arranged for any Stones money to come through to us on H.P. terms at £7.99 per month.
    Don't get excited, ladies.

I can see Cryne spending some money for the simple reason that he wouldn`t want to leave the club in a worse position in the League than when he took over. That is if there is any truth in that he wants out.

A lot of work to be done. Only Hourihane Hammill, Scowen and possibly Winnall are good enough.
