Where did it get reported, and what was said.... I missed it, and only found about it on here, and suddenly we have this money. do we know a) where it came from (presumably PC) b) who reported it c) is this to cover both wages and fees (or just fees) or am I asking questions that have already been discussed, and should take the time to get off my arse and look
no idea where it has come from. It was first reported in the Torygraph as part of the match report from the Fowls match. Also no idea if it is true or if it is true how it is made up
It came from Telegraph / Star I think never been confirmed by the club as far as i know, I don't think there's two million quid doing nothing at a club like ours, just a rumour in my opinion. If we've got 2 million why are we offering 200 grand for players when similar offers have already been rejected?
so we could in reality all be setting ourselves up for believing that we have 2M to spend when in fact it could be journalistic (if thats a word) *****, and we could in fact have bugger all and be in the same position as the last transfer window.
RE: Has also been in the Mirror twice this week... I think its spreading through the papers like Chinese whispers. No-one has queried the original quote publicly so now its being used everywhere as fact. I'll believe its true when we stop bidding for players in the £25-200k range in the lower leagues and look to invest a decent amount on a tried and tested player who wouldn't be 'a gamble'. Until then, I'll continue to believe its a myth.
Most probably a wild journo guess, IF, we had 2 million to spend, I wouldn't think the club would make it known to all and sundry, as that would automatically inflate the asking price of any player we showed interest in. I may be wrong, but I can't remember BFC ever revealing how much they had available to spend, the usual statement is normally along the lines of "Money is available for transferes" usually followed by "Funds are limited".
I suspect it's to cover transfer fees, signing on fee, wages and probably new contracts for exisiting players as well.
