Can someone explain the tactics 1st half?

At times Wiseman went into a centre back position and Etuhu dropped to right back, was Wiseman man-marking the nos 32? Or supposed to be?

Today's first half performance was a joke, embarrassing really. Whether Wiseman had some special role or not they had way too much space down our right from where the first goal came. Playing 1 upfront meant for their keeper just rolled the ball to the centre half who was able to run 40 yards without anyone closing him down, leaving their left back able to play almost as an inside forward on the left. Etuhu was pathetic, what was his role? He wasn't defending in any way shape or form and he carried zero threat going forward infront of Wiseman.
Second half didn't start any better, with their right back allowed to run the entire length of the pitch and deliver a good cross (something our full backs are incapable of doing) with Kennedy in AWOL shocker. The subs changed things, although ultimately Pederson didn't contribute much, at least keeping 2 centre halves occupied put them under pressure, Czwka scored a good goal (but MoTM????), and for 10 minutes we looked like coming back into it, but similar to Bolton the game just petered out. Momentum was lost with a series of stupid fouls and Derby saw out the game comfortably.

Positives? I thought Dawson actually had a decent game after my slating of him against Bolton, Mellis was easily MoTM for me putting in a great display in midfield, Cranie had his usual steady eddie game in the middle of the back four with Ramage. Cywka did well when he came on too.

Negatives? How much longer can we continue with the Chuckle brothers at full back? Are they in competition to see who can put in the most abject performance?
McCourt was poor, couldn't run with the ball, couldn't run without it, couldn't find a pass.
    Etuhu was a joke.
O'Brien, didn't do anything of note except fail to get back in time for their second goal and a few lame shots.
Tactics? After playing Perkins and Dawson on Boxing day, at least with Mellis we had someone with an idea about attacking from midfield, BUT 1 striker certainly contributed to our downfall as explained earlier.
Another frustrating game, almost the opposite of the Bolton game, with us having the best of the 1st half then and the best of the 2nd today. If we could put together 2 halves of consistency we might actually win a game, but with these 2 full backs it will be a rare thing indeed. I guess that Nyatanga will be back on New Years Day to play at left back, and for me I'd play Hassell at right back. If Wiseman starts then I simply give-up, because I am sorely tempted to walk out the next time I find them 2 in the starting line up again.

Agree with much of that. You fail to mention O'Grady's miss though. Should have pinched a thoroughly undeserved point.

I think you will find that Wiseman followed his man inside leaving the wing clear for the full back, but Etuhu was oblivious to the danger most of the time. Today's team structure and tactics was poor and they exploited it. With both Etuhu and McCourt contributions, it was like playing with 9 men. The switch should have been mad much earlier. We know we haven't got good full backs and this just made em look worse.

Yes I am serious, we matched Derby in the middle, I thought both Dawson and mellis did ok. All our problems came from 1 upfront and 2 full backs who can't defend.

I think trying to attribute sticking to tactics is being generous to Wiseman. He just didn't know what he was doing and kept drifting in field. Someone should have told him he was playing right back and not centre back.

I agree about the one upfront and the fullbacks are ***** but I still stick with cywka being man of the match we only started going forward with any venom when he came on.
