....how he has a 'private income' of almost £17 million but still costs the tax payer £3 million a year?

F.ck the expenses and BNP. We should get rid of these clowns first.

He generates much more than £3m for the country

Sell out your country and heritage...........

Yeh, let's see London and it's historical buildings fall to ruin, let's get rid of the biggest plaster England has. I wonder how many turists would come then! How many £m do turists spend in London/England a year? Look it up.

    Look at the big picture!

    And let's face it

Since France got rid of its royal families there's been no tourism and all their buildings have fallen down. They don't have any trade with anybody else either...

    Your argument doesnt stack up.

He claimed £3m for expenses. He paid £3.4m in tax and his wealth rose 1% or £167k. So, he actually earnt this country money - Whereas your trying to dis-credit him.

Forget about the fact that he is the biggest charity funds raiser in the world and part of a family that generates millions upon millions from tourism for this country - aye Royal Family out.

My question is where does the 'private income' come from?

OR imagine how much more we could generate

if we could rid of em, didn't have to pay them and opened up all the palaces castle's etc to tourists. By getting rid of the royal family you aren't getting rid of the buildings or our heriatge. Your just moving society on from allowing people to live extravagant leaves purely becuase they were born it to it

    The Royals cheese me off

It riles me that any of my money will go towards supporting a family of inbreds. Plus the fact that the very idea of them doesn't sit with a modern democratic society. Prince Harry is a **** too, he had the best education money can buy, buggers it up and gets crap a levels, still gets in to sandhurst because he's a royal, dresses up as a nazi, then goes on some publicity stunt pretending he's a soldier in Afghanistan and everyone thinks he's great.

the private income is from the Duchy of Cornwall, since the Prince of Wales is also always the Duke of Cornwall.

as such the money he makes from this estate means he doesn't ordinarily require funding by the taxpayer. However, most of the £3 million is travel expenses from trips taken at the request of the democratically elected (sort of re. Gordon/Mandy but that's another issue) British Government.

plus although tourists would still visit Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle etc the fact they are part of an institution that is alive surely enhances their appeal.

Florence really struggles to attract tourists in fact so much

you only have to queue for two hours to see the Uffizi gallery.

If there was noRoyal family then tourists would stillflock to see Nelson's column, St Pauls etc.

Why is that money going to him personally? If he's supported by the state then profits from such 'assets' should be re-distributed back to the tax paying public.

All land owned by the Saxe-Coburg family should be taken back and used for the benefit of the country, not that pointy nosed Greek/German.
