When he took over the job he said it was to save the club from going out of business but he wasn't going to be there for the long haul PC and Shep had a public meeting, which I attended, at Darfield Cricket Club not long after Simon Davey had taken over. Again during that meeting PC said he had got the club to save it but was hoping someone with the interest of the club at heart would come in and take it off his hands. I have posted what he said on this message board on numourous occasions So there's no news in this story regarding him wanting to pass the club onto new owners - that has always been Pat Crynes position. What puzzles me, is that I have not seen the club advirtised for sale. PC maybe working behind the scenes to off load the club, but if he is there's nothing been reported in the press.
Following on from this - Wednesday Chairman in USA trying to find funding On teletex it makes interesting reading Barnsley Chairman wanting to step down Sheffield Wednesday Chairman in San Fransisco talking to potential investors I wouldn't want PC to sell to just anybody but we need someone to get hold of the club that has the clout to make things happen I've posted this a few times before - we will always be indebted to the efforts and good will of Patrick Cryne. So much so that without him there wouldn't be a Barnsley Football Club. A statue of him outside the ground would be appropriate to show how much Barnsley Fans think about this guy. BUT - Times have now moved on. PC dosen't want the job so we need other owners. I would rather hear we have a new wealthy owner/s than to hear we have a new manager
Regarding the Wednesday chairman ............... I heard his interview last night on Sheffield .... Anyone over in Sheffield that believed a word of that "we are over here to attract investment" crap wants their head testing. Interesting how he also said the very same investors were waiting to "see how season ticket sales went" before progressing talks any further ..... What utter garbage. It was sales patter to try and flog season tickets. Sheffield Wednesday are massively in debt and no nearer to finding a solution to it and anyone that believes otherwise is deluded. Give me our club owner anyday over the guy at Wednesday ..... A fact that makes PC's interview last night even more sad in a way when you listen to the way he spoke .... I think some of our fans should wake up and smell the coffee and be very very grateful for the position we find ourselves in down to one mans generosity .....
RE: Regarding the Wednesday chairman ...............yes and no Agree it could be a sham by the Wendy owners to drum up support But on the other hand I would hate to see new wealthy owners take over at Wendy, especially when you look at the debt they are carrying, when just down the road is a club that has been starved of success, has unknown potential but can take 35,000 people to Wembley and has little or not much debt. PC may be too honest for his own good here. One or two escapades to attract potential buyers and drum up support for ST sales would be acceptable in my book (even if it was a wacking big lie )
no, i've not seen it for sale anywhere either - it's not in chron or any shop windows, can't understand it. hopefully serious buyers would google 'BFC telephone number'
Just what I was going to say. I can honestly say I've never seen a football club advertised for sale in the public domain!
what about the weekender? A few issues here, unless you are a BFC fan what motivation have you got to buy a club? Unless we make a healthy profit each year our chances are very limited, pay x amount upfront, continue to put x amount in throughout the whole year to get - X back at the end of the year? (chinny)
I think you've spotted a gap in the market I'm off to set-up a website and apply to Dragon's Den ... Theo will want in I'm sure
This time next year we'll be millionaires
