I am sick to death reading about how we have sold super star Vaz Te at a give away price. O.K. he scored us some goals, but was he really that good? Just 35 days ago ( new years eve - leeds utd ) he was such a vital part of our team, that he wasn't even in the starting eleven, and was only on the bench. If someone had suggested before christmas that we would be able to sell him in january for half a million ( or thereabouts ) i would have told them to snatch their hand off.
He was a good player for us and he was getting better so I was very sad to see him go............but life moves on I think we will operate better as a team without him and it will give other players an opportunity to shine. I would just like to know how much we sold him for but no one seems to know
The game he scored a hat-trick in? I think he was that good. Sad that he is gone. Bags of potential and Keith seemed to be realising that potential. Heading for 20 goals. It sounds like we got circa £500k for him which is terrible. Absolutely terrible. Wes Morgan went for 7 figures and strikers are typically much higher value. We should have been looking for £1.5m and we've been mugged. Again. WHat worries me the most is Hill saying we got "poor money" and Don saying we are very pleased. This is yet another episode in a long line of what strikes me as abysmal and amateurish PR from Don Rowing and strikes me that he is slightly out of his depth. If we are to move on then we need to be in receipt of a premium for our best players and re-invest it. We have a manager who is capable of doing that but if we don't get that premium we will move nowhere.
apparently his name translates to "Richard and Judy" in Portuguese as his parents were big fans. bit of info as its the last thread like.
I'd be very surprised if we got anywhere near £500K for him. If we're having a sweep on how much we sold him for I'll go for £150,000.
I'm sure I read somewhere that every place in the final league table is worth 43k in prize money. If that is correct, then taking anything under 300k would be complete and utter lunacy, even if we were then to lose him for free in the summer.
If we had blocked the move to West Ham, would his attitude have been right to finish the season off with us? I suspect not.
That may well be so (though if true would be very disappointing), but you can't just go selling your players on the cheap just because they might spit their dummy out if you don't.
