The past is the past, let them have their old glory and look to the future.

Just because they have old associations with us does not mean they will be the next saviours.

couldn't agree more. Redfearn was my all time Barnsley hero (and yes I do remember Glavin) I would hate to see him crucified as a manager when he failed. I say when because it's only Wilson who has left us under his own steam.

    Stop typing gibberish !!

Ha ha , got your attention ! Hiya , buddy . A man with no previous connections with the club would be my choice too . The likes of Neil Redfearn and Eric Winstanley are personal favourites of mine and I'd hate their image to be tarnished , like John Hendrie's was .
I can never understand the logic in the argument of past players being a better choice for a new manager than anyone else . The appointment should be made on the quality of the individual and how he conducts himself in his interview.

I wouldn't force a coach on a new manager, especially one like Redfearn who has so much fan backing, it would undermine the manager too much.

    Good question

If he's the man chosen by the new manager , that'd be good enough for me . What I wouldn't like to see is Neil Redfearn being forced on someone , ala Thordarsson and Glavin , just to appease some of the fans . I don't see that happening , though .

    RE: Good question

It all well and good shouting for Redders to come back as a coach in some capacity but has anyone actually considered if he is a good coach or not?

I wouild like to see Neil back at the well but for the right reasons, not just sentiment.

I certainly agree with that posting...

I'm sure we've all read Neil Redfearn's book - he doesn't seem like the easiest guy to get along with. Not a gifted communicator - which is part and parcel of a coach's role. I mean he walked out of a number of clubs or states that his relationship inexplicably soured with a number of managers - and that's his version of events. I think that Redders is an awesome bloke - and a personal hero - but it doesn't mean that he's the best man for the job.
