Not annoyed with him at all. I'm pissed off that we've significantly improved him as a player, no doubt he'd fully agree, and then Leicester have just come in and taken him. It's frustrating that we had a loan agreement which hasn't been honoured. I thought he might be a player we had a chance of keeping. We'll miss him
We didnt sign him on a season long loan at the start of the season thats why its allowed him to move clubs.
It'll be a real test of Keith Hill & David Flitcroft's managerial skills, losing two of our best midfielders in Butts & Drinks. Wondering who we have on the books who could step into Drinkwater's role.
Drinkwater was going to play a massive part of what could or could have been a push for the play offs its dissapointing not an overreaction. Another player now has to step in and find his feet in that position!
Agreed. Just disapointed he didn't do a Lee Clark or Billy Sharp and turn them down. 750,000 is a bargain for him. He must be on 10k a week at least.
"Do a Billy Sharp"? - Sharp was a Donny player - there is absolutely no comparison between the situations. Let me explain it this way.......you have a temporary job, a permanent job comes up at another company....do you stick with the temporary job out of "loyalty" or do you go for the permanent job that gives you security?
The curious thing is why we re-signed him with the re-call clause. I thought the club were anxious to have a stable squad made up of "lesser" rated players. So no signing of players with easy release clauses etc. Perhaps they should extend it to loanees as well? It's just wasted Keith Hills time although the three points off Leicester due in no small part to Drinkwater might be crucial comes the seasons end.
