He has been the best player in the team for the games I have seen. Played well last night, no chance with their goal. Unfortunately Muller would have to sit on the bench a while for me. (doh) (doh) (doh)
Agreed, and ban those muppets who were shouting ... .... "Muller, Muller" in the ponty when Steele mis-kicked that clearance in the first 20 mins, ridiculous
RE: Agreed, and ban those muppets who were shouting ... but the muller muppets soon went quiet when he pulled off a fine save down to his left a few mins later
RE: Agreed, and ban those muppets who were shouting ... Collection of pissed brain donors that were sat just behind your lot.
Nothing against Steele but when you've got a keeper with the height, presence, technique and ability to throw the ball from box to box, you have to pick him, simple as. Steele frustrated me a bit last night kicking the ball in the direction of Macken instead of ODJ, and he rarely throws the ball to the wing to start an attack. I think he's a 'great shot stopper', but Muller is a shoe-in for me. Worth 10 goals a season in penalty saves alone. And I'd have him coming up for set pieces if we're losing in the dying seconds of games.
RE: Nothing against Steele Do we really concede 10 pens a season and if we do you are that confident he would save them all? P.S Muller`s kicking aint brilliant either.
Agreed.. Steele has not doen anything "wrong" in particular, but Muller is the better than him and should play. His presence alone could have a massive impact on the team and the fans
When Schmeicel got injured did Fergy wait until his replacment had a bad game? No, he went staright back into the side. Always pick your best players.
Steele has done well, but...... unfortunately for Steele he doesn't have the presence of Muller, nor does he have the ability to influence the team as Muller did last season........ and his kicking was atrotious again last night! but he is a fantastic shot stopper and great backup and will keep Muller on his toes. Still doesn't jusify fans giving him jip though, I agree he has been one the outstanding performers over the past few weeks (but thats not to difficult the way we are playing) If Muller can only perform at 75% he's worth having in the team. Think back to the number of times last season when Muller saved the day and got us out of jail e.g the two late penalty saves (at home vs Preston and ....) and the game against Colchester at home when he was injured but still managed to make world class saves on one leg. We have had a very poor start and need to make drastic changes to get results. Its times like these when we need influential players such as Heinz. I'm not sure how far off De Silva is but he is another player who made a major impact last year. If these two players make an immediate impact and influence as they did last season I have no doubt we can turn it around. This still does not solve the striker problem though.......... I seriously think SD needs to dip into the loan market and get us a Fraizer Campbell i.e. hot young prospect from the premiership!
