If we do plan on using Hourihane quite regularly I imagine he will be club captain

If Conor's on the pitch it has to be him.

Why does Hourihane get called Conor whereas Roberts just get called Roberts?

Personally, I see Conor as a member of my own family.

Dunno. I've often wondered why. Its like Hilary and Kamala, but then Trump and Biden. Its same with Trent Alexander Arnold.

Gorra be Hourihane, for me nobody in the team with his pedigree.

Interviews with Conor suggest that he only sees himself as a bit part player. I think it will be Roberts or maybe Connell.

    Remember DJ Campbell?

Tv and radio always referred to him.as DJ Campbell rather than just Campbell.

You can't have it as Hourihane - he's a member of the coaching staff. Roberts also potentially only backup - it should be Connell with some experience around him to help.

This is the reason. I’d had a couple of drinks and wasn’t confident in my ability to spell Hourihane

With respect I'm not even sure what a bit part player is. Other than maybe one who sits on the bench waiting to come on.
I see him as a player coach. The coach bit being the secondary part of his role. Else it would have been pointless signing him. (A tactic to lure him to the club which serves both parties well). He can develop his coaching skills as has been said . (Not having to do trips all over the place eg Barnsley and Villa probably unpaid, whilst he was at Derby) He's said don't expect the Hourihane of old and anyone who does, imo is living in a dream world tbh. But what he does bring is vast experience and presence.
If he performs on the pitch I expect him to be a regular. Like any other player.

If not Hourihane. I see Robert's filling the Captains role. Imo He would command the respect of the players.

As much as I see Connell a motivator on the pitch, I would fear the youth in him would affect his game too much at this stage with the responsibility.

There’s a strong argument to make it Connell for me - though if it was Roberts or Hourihane there’s no issue for me at all.

Let’s face it, having numerous leaders is not a problem. Whether or not Conor and Marc are wearing an armband, they will be leaders regardless.
