Watched it last night. Got to say I was amazed how good it was. Not sure I'd want to watch it again, but it was certainly one of the best films I've ever seen. Tom Hanks played an absolute blinder.

I also felt Stockholm Syndrome was evident however, upon Googling, the real Captain Phillips said he never felt empathy whatsoever.

Anyway, quality fillem. Gerrit watched if yer ant already.

It was better than I thought it would be, definitely enjoyable. But as you say, don't think it's one of those I could watch again either.

Lone Survivor is probably the best film I've watched over the last few months. Wolf of Wall Street was good as well, if a bit long. I liked Gravity but mainly for the effects. Thought American Hustle was very overrated.

Seen the wolf of wall street, not too bad, drags on though.

The film to see however, is 'Prisoners' with Hugh Jackman and Jake Gylenhall. Quality.....

Saw 12 Years A Slave a few week back, one of the best films I've ever seen, well worthy of all the awards it's won... Really hope it gets a few Oscars.

A friend of mine us a lieutenant in the navy. She worked for 3 years on ops for joint forces.
She watched a preview of the film due to her commanders input. Some really good scenes were cut, because they could have been used to train future pirates!
    Really scary stuff!

I too loved Gravity, but mainly as you say for the effects. Very interested in seeing Lone Survivor and American Hustle (just to see Jennifer Lawrence in that white dress). I have no interest however in seeing the Wolf of Wall Street.

It's huge in Korea. I downloaded it with subtitles and my missus and her little nephew watched it four or five times on the spin.

Captain Phillips was great, and the Somali cast were great for unknowns. Also enjoyed WOWS but mostly for the debauchery.
