From what I've read, a lot of people are in a similar boat.

Yes all motor insurance had taken a huge hike.
I moved to AA from Saga who were wanting to almost double mine.

Look around and you should be able to get a new policy for a lot less. I had a bizarre one this year. Policy went up by a lot but broker found a new policy with the same company same cover excess etc for just £10 more than I payed last year

I generally change every year and this year they upped the premium by about £150. Just renewed earlier this week and switched from Hastings to the Post Office. A familiar theme for my house insurance too.

Quote was a 60% increase, reduced that to 30% at present

Having read this thread I had a little dabble out of interest (mine's not due yet). Anyway Direct Line doubled my existing quote and Swinton TREBLED it. Surely something wrong here...

I always use Compare the market or Confused.com. I never stick with same company as always get a better deal year on year. Loyalty counts for nothing with car insurance.

In my experience, it’s better going through a broker.
In the event of a claim, they’ll generally be very helpful in getting things settled.
It’s easy to check if there is any vast difference in premiums between this option or going online

I've pranged mine recently. Dreading the next policy quote due sept/october ish. 9yrs + Protected no claims. And can do 3 in 1 year.
But it'll count for bugger all I reckon. Hence "have you had an accident in the last 5 yrs" question that allus pops up. Those quotes in previous posts sound worrying. I moved companies last year cos my renewal would have been 80% more.
    £230 2021-22.
    £400 + auto renewal. For 2022-23
Went with Co-op £260. but £50 spend added to coop card. if not cancelled in the first month or 2. Dropped a reight bo7lock. Mrs has one and it wasn't accepted that I live at the same address. I should have made a member within 3 months. My fault it was in the small print and I'd forgot about it.:mad:
