    Why has my 08 1.9cdti Vectra starting smelling like rotten eggs on a cold start? Cheap Sainsburys diesel or catalytic converter?

    With caravans, the smell of rotten eggs means that the leisure battery has had it. Don't know if it's the same with cars.

    If it's diesel might need a good run out on the motorway which will clear out the DPF filter. Vauxhalls have a set programme that should kick in on the motorway which will burn all the dirt out in the filter. If you're driving urban then I guess there could be a build up in the filter. Worth a try?

    Don't know about rotten eggs, but if it begins to smell like piss that's usually your air conditioning needing a flush.

    At least it wasn't the cat converter!! I've found some more out about that work I need doing, will try and ring Kye this week.
