if you do it online though it checks all the relevant databases to check you have a valid MOT etc takes 2 mins.

Check what it says on the form. don't think you need log book - just insurance and, if necessary, MOT certificate. But easier to do it online as that checks it all.

I tried it online but as i took out a new insurance policy on monday, it says the database doesn't recognise that there is insurance on the vehicle. So i was thinking of just going down to the post office and doing but i don't have the logbook in my possession.

You need either the renewal notice or the vehicle registration document (log book) without either you won't be able to renew your road fund licence.

Do it online, just done mine.

As long as you've applied online or by phone before 31 July, you have an extra five working days where you can still display your old disc.

That doesn't exist either :) Vehicle excise duty is the term I think. Everyone pays for the roads through standard tax payments, car drivers pay for emissions from their vehicles.

Valid insurance and MOT + the fee is all you need. I just taxed my car at the PO today.
