Sky Sports understands Bristol Rovers have rejected bids from Middlesbrough and Barnsley for winger Mustapha Carayol.
Right then i'd like to ask a question If we had to pay 250k for this lad and give him a 12 month contract to beat off the other bidders would you be happy with this ?
If you think signing a player a a one year contract is good business , then I am glad you are not giving contracts out. How can that be good business?? A one year contract!!!!!!!
It is not the only option though is it. If we can only get him on a one year deal, then look somewhere else. No pointy at all in one year deals, they only cost us money.
if the only option you have his to give him a one year deal it as to be done it could be the difference between staying up and going down
What about in 12 months when he's walked for nothing? Won't we just be in a worse position then than we are now because we will be once again looking to replace him but will be £250k down on what we have now. One year contracts are almost as damaging to a club as loan signings.
Are you Don Rowing? You appear to be just like him. ie learnt nothing from the Vaz Te, Howard, Butterfield fiascos
what's the other choice ? stick with the squad we've got, or sign players no-one else wants, or get players hill as worked with before
Odejayi looked good on youtube though mate. I am in no way saying this lad is going to be as bad as Oddjob was, just pointing out the fact that anyone can be made to look good on youtube, that is all. I think Carayol may make the step up to even Premiership, but I still cannot condone only signing him on a ONE YEAR DEAL, not ANYONE should be given only a one year deal.
Whatever we give him will be a gamble - if we give him 1 year and he plays well and we lose him there will be uproar whereas if we give him two or three years and he's cack the same response will follow. Personally I think we need to bf giving longer contracts but I wouldnt want to be the one making the decision.
