Peter Risdale earns £1m as Cardiff's debts rise to £34m Ridsdale's £1m City payday Jul 1 2008 By Martin Shipton, Media Wales CARDIFF City chairman Peter Ridsdale was paid more than £1m from the club in a single year, including a bonus of £500,000. Details of payments made to him are revealed in a new set of accounts filed by the club with Companies House in Cardiff. They reveal that in the year up to May 2007 Mr Ridsdale was paid £534,490 by the club, plus a bonus of £500,000. Mr Ridsdale, who took over as club chairman from Sam Hammam, said: “These payments are entirely in order and were fully disclosed in a report disclosed to shareholders at an emergency general meeting held in January last year. “When I was brought in by Sam Hammam in June 2005 I was given a contract under which I was expected to restructure the finances of the club, renegotiate the loan payments and secure the new stadium.” For Peter Ridsdale’s interview and the full story see Wednesday’s South Wales Echo.

From Cardiff City fans forum - posted today http://www.cardiff.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=114241 Cardiff City vs J F Hasselbaink: Stand-Off Cardiff City look set for a problem with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink ready to fight his corner having been effectively released by the club. Hasselbaink originally had a 1 year extension clasue built into his contract, activated if he played a certain number of games. He did, but apparently this clause was 'verbally waived' between the two parties. However, Cardiff City appear certain to release Hasselbaink and may be guilty of messing the player around after recently stating his future would only be decided depending on other signings. Hasselbaink reported for pre-season fitness tests with the rest of the squad with some sources reporting he was turned away. Either way, Hasselbaink looks certain to leave, with lawyers and the PFA now deciding what compensation package he may be entitled to.
