    Just a thought.

Butland is a great signing, Dudgeon will be to, would also like to see some experience added to the midfield e.g. Glenn Whelan on loan or similar type player.

Freebies mentioned above, perhaps out of reach but all would be quality at this level. Short term deal for one of the above could make instant impact and put them in shop window.

There's a reason that they haven't. Id say they all have astronomical wage demands, and Titus Bramble wouldn't get in our 6 a side team.

Have clubs finally woken up to Brambles limitations? I couldn't believe how many managers were willing to make him a very rich man.

Carlton Cole has been in talks with plenty of clubs but hasn't signed for any because of money. Similar issue with Stephen Hunt, had talks at Blackpool.

Ebanks-Blake is injured, still. Could be worth a punt some time soon.

And, Titus Bramble is just Titus Bramble.

I think there's not much wrong with the players we have. Maybe short of a central midfielder, but attacking wise with O'Grady, Pederson, Mellis, Jennings, McCourt and Cykwa there's enough there.

We need a system based around our better players, Etuhu in the centre and then maybe another central midfielder brought in.

Need a right back, left back and I think we have enough in central defence but were let down from the wide areas too much.

And to put a player on the post at a set piece too.

I know Butland is still unproven but, even though we've made our worst start to a season in years, the calibre of players we are able to attract has certainly gone up since Mansford and Watkins came in. I dare say any of the signings we've had could have signed for "bigger" clubs than Barnsley and I'm sure it'll click for us eventually. I expect Jennings and McCourt to shine for us in the near future and this should take the pressure off the defence, they aren't as bad as people make out they are just exposed too often by what is currently a completely ineffective midfield.
