Been reading in todays paper about his shame in being beaten by us and how poor they were on the day. I totally disagree with him. Liverpool carved out plenty of openings throughout the game, many of them on target. They were the better team in terms of passing and winning the midfield battle. They had more possession. Whats really annoying about Carragher and the clutch of ex- Liverpool players cum pundits is that they forget that there were two teams playing. They didnt play badly. We were magnificent in keeping the score down and taking our chances when they came. I watched LFC TV on Friday night. They were condescendingly arrogant on there prior to the game and since the final whistle theyre showing Premiership and European highlights of games they won. Now almost everyone interviewed with Liverpool connections is choking without being able to give us any credit. Its all about how bad they are and not us playing well. These people really let their club down. Theyre nothing like the supporter who shook my hand after the game and said "well played and good luck in the next round". Their arrogance isnt what Liverpool FC need to get them going again.
Let them moan, makes it even more memorable when people within the game try and come out with excuses! End of day they stuggled in every round of the cup. Who gives a toss that they didn't have Gerrard or Torres? They just replaced them with Kuyt and Alonso. These people, Carragher included, need to look at the fact we had a team pulled together. No Muller, Nyatanga, Macken. Those three would be straight on the teamsheet normally.
Mate of mine is a Liverpool fan. He didnt go and was texting me re their team of "reserve players" . He was gobsmacked to know the team the actually fielded and agreed that was a strong enough team to see us off.
RE: Liverpool - arrogant? I dont think Liverpool fans in general are arrogant. Its just the hangers on from the glory days that give them a bad name.
Carragher was at fault for both goals............ he was outjumped by Foster for the first and turned away from Howard as he shot for the winner
