Instead of squabbling and thinking up new ways to kill each other shouldn't we be uniting against the common foe (or all 23 of them, plus Leeds obviously)?

Cat haters: Just spray the cats with a hose and they'll stay out of your garden. Now that wasn't so hard, was it?
Cat lovers: Not everyone likes cats. Get over it. Help cat haters to keep cats out of their gardens / laps (see above, plus ES's tip about avoiding eye contact).

I'll get a Nobel peace prize for this one day, I know. Plus a load of **** from both sides when everyone wakes up but change is never popular.

Yeah, been working this morning but I think I'm done for the day now. Got to go into town to pick up some materials for the planned patio thing when Mrs Burgundy Red gets up. She seems to have been on some feverish late-night cleaning binge so I'll let her sleep, as long as it doesn't jeopardise my getting back in time to catch the kick-off (that's assuming the commentators don't miss it themselves, this time).

In answer to your question the other day, no Stockholm for me this winter - off to Oslo for 3 months in October instead. Not that I've got any accommodation sorted yet or anything. Still, I'll have a couple of weeks to find the Norwegian Tykes and a pub that'll show the Hull game.

Hee heee, that#s what I like about you, you always get your priorities right, find the Norweigian Tykes first and then sort out your accommodation and where to see the match lol
Just like me when I go away.
Some would say we are sad barstewards!

    Well, if I find a decent pub . . .

. . . I'll probably spend more waking hours there than in the apartment so it's got to take top priority. And the selection process isn't such a hardship either.

It'll be strange, actually - I've spent about 4 years in Stockholm now and I've only spent a couple of days in Oslo. I don't think it's massively different in feel and the language is close enough that I'll have no problem shopping or stuff. I'm split between being excited about getting to know a new city and thinking "Can I be bothered?". That's terrible, isn't it? I know loads of people would jump at the opportunity but I'm getting on a bit now and I just want to stay here, tend my vegetable patch and work on the house.

    It's an age thing Neil.
I enjoy all the travel, but nowadays, instead of exploring new places, we tend to slip into the places we know and love and feel happiest with. It's an effort to be bothered with anything else.

I think I might be up for more travel later

I've just moved around so much in the last few years I'm getting a bit sick of it, to be honest. I could do with putting down some roots somewhere - I haven't really felt that I'm settled anywhere since I left York first time around and that's 15 years ago now. And now I've got the commentary going down here there seems no reason to leave the place.

Anyway, when are you coming down to visit? One new place for you but with some familiar faces. This year's disappearing fast but I hope to be here all next Spring / Summer.

I really will have to get my act together this next year. What a washout this summer has become. Keeping fingers crossed for next week but after Monday forecast so far is pretty good - perfect for drinking beer and wine, sitting outside the tent reading and relaxing. Bliss

    Sounds good

Right, there's signs of life from Mrs BR (well, at least there are now I've made her a cup of tea and prodded her a bit). Off to do the dreaded shopping, then back for the match. Catch you later.
