taking my cbt soon and a bit worried cos i have never rode a motorbike. Just wondering if any 1 could give me any tips. Thanks
evening mate. Are you doing your CBT on a 50cc or a 125cc? If it's a 50cc it'll be an automatic scooter, basically you spend a few hours riding round a few cones, just getting used to using the machine, before spending an hour on the roads. It's easy mate, anyone can pass it if they take their time. A 125cc CBT is basically the same, but you'll be expected to use gears and show clutch control. But, you'll be doing it on a 50cc, if you're 16/17 and never ridden a bike before.
I thought it would be. Basically, what you'll be taught is, how to do lifesavers, a lifesaver is a check over your shoulder to check your blindspot before turning a corner. You'll be taught when you go from stand-still to hold the back brake(the left lever) in as you build a few revs up before releasing the brake. Basic control like doing figures of 8, U-turns, straight line work, basically riding around cones before going out on the road. At all times your instructor will have contact with you through a one-way ear piece and radio so he can instruct you, but you can't talk back. For the last hour or so you'll be out on the road, basically just getting a bit of experience, nothing major though, a few town roads, maybe the odd country road, but nothing too harsh. All in all you'll enjoy the experience and I'd be very surprised if you didn't walk away with your CBT certificate. Good luck mate.
