http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/exclusive-glasgow-rangers-celtic-playing-1783049 Charles Green is talking garbage. The English hating Scots have no right to play in our leagues just because their own league is crap. Even if they start at conference level it wouldn't be right for two of our own clubs to miss playing out at that level to fit them in. He brings up how conference grounds would be full every week, but makes no mention of the extra police costs from thousands of old firm fans travelling down without a ticket as they would do. But if he wants to be part of English football with his millions he could always buy a certain championship club he used to be at
It's a difficult one Dreamboy .... always going to spark debate. My view on some of the points you raise: 1) only one of the two clubs you mention is "English hating". 2) Scottish footie is dying on it's arse with the current debacle and even if Rangers were still in the Prem then modern society is sick of the same two horse race every year where the name of the game was always to put as many past the poorer opposition to gain goal difference then effectively make it an 8-game season between two teams to decide the outcome. No comparison to Spain / Barca / R Madrid because even though they are head and shoulders above the rest there is still admirable quality and support in in the remainder. 3) There seems to be those who don't want two more "BIG" but ultimately non-English clubs in our league, but are happy to see Cardiff and Swansea there who let's be honest if they are not in the Prem or challenging for promotion are round about our level when it comes to size / support. 4) Starting in our structure from scratch, they would probably conform to FL / FA rules and conditions - Swansea and Cardiff still answer to the Welsh FA. 5) Why should it be a conference side who suffers ...... what about kicking out clubs like Pompey (nothing against their long-suffering supporters) for constantly flaunting the rules and being unfit for purpose, or Leeds who fecked off a whole community by going bust and using the new chairmans money to start from scratch rather than paying what they owe ? One things for sure, tell all 92 clubs "three strikes and you are out" when being proven unfit and proper, with the threat of their places being taken by new applicants (ie the Auld Firm), then I'm sure a few would buck their ideas up and fans such as me n thee wouldn't be left to pick up the pieces every time.
One thing they seem to forget. If Scotland becomes independent, how does that affect things? Do we want teams from a foreign country, especially one with its own well established league, playing in England. I know that countries like Lichenstein and Andorra have teams in other countries leagues, but that is because they have no league of their own. I think its not something that the Auld Firm have thought about.
They should never be allowed to join our league and the FA should make that perfectly clear to shut this tedious debate down once and for all (I would boot the Welsh clubs out too). Also how does this idiot claim that Rangers are the most successful club in Scotland? As things stand now they are about to win their first trophy - the Scottish third division. The old Rangers no longer exist and the new club are just that, a new club. The whole interview was ********.
If these two scum bags are allowed any where near the English league, then i'm done with football in this country. would they start at the very bottom of the pyramid? would they be forced to pay compensation to EVERY club who finishes below them in the whole pyramid? how long before the 'refs hate us, we're being cheated' rubbish started? some of the vilest 'fans' in Europe support these two (note, I said SOME, not all) do we want them on the rail network, around the grounds every week? they're a pair of cheating bar stewards - do we want that down here too? and you know why they're called the Old Firm, don't you? They make out they're enemiees, but they love each other, carving up all the pie for themselves. Rankers only exist because Septic bailed them out in the past.
I can see the argument for merging leagues across borders - like in Rugby Union - so could see a "Celtic League" with Celtic/Rangers + 3/4 from Scotland, 5-6 from Wales and even 5-6 from Ireland/Northern Ireland, but if any club wants to join the English league they start at the lowest available level. I don't think Rangers would want to have to win 10 successive promotions to get to the Conference level...
At the end of the day, MONEY talks. There was talk of a Europa League, with teams from Scotland, Belgium, Portugal etc ...... to me thats a no-brainer cos there would be zero away following practically. The there has recently been talk of a Abu Dhabi or Quatar league of mega-rich clubs. But the only way I can see Celtic / Rangers in a top-level league with most top flight English clubs is if there was some kind of Sky (other wealthy backers are available) breakaway league where a wealthy division is created when all clubs involved break with traditional setups and abdicate all rights to FA Cup / League cup etc, and folks like us get to watch proper footie with self sustained clubs away from the chaos and glamour.
Re: At the end of the day, MONEY talks. Mario and Red Lemonade you are both spot on with your comments but I for one cannot wait for the day that both the infirm scumbags relocate to the English leagues. Unfortunately for me and fortunately for you guys this will not happen. Its just wishful thinking on their behalf. We all know that English football does not need them and I doubt you really want them. A European league is our only hope of getting rid of the fkrs. Horrible clubs and horrible hate filled people. And I use the term "people" very loosely.
Re: At the end of the day, MONEY talks. Bring it on I say! The Manchester City whose results I used to look out for and whose fans I used to have a lot in common with no longer exist. The Manchester City who we played the other week were nothing to do with the club that played at Maine Road. Just a team of international all stars wearing blue shirts. The sooner we are rid of them and the other top clubs the better. I want to see English clubs fielding mostly British players in a competitive league, on a level playing field. It would have the added bonus of being hugely beneficial to the England team in the medium term.
Re: At the end of the day, MONEY talks. Straight away you made a mistake. Rangers and their fans don't hate England, they wish they were English.
Re: At the end of the day, MONEY talks. Nah, they wish they were Northern Irish. send Rankers to play Crusaders and Coleraine and Ballymena United, while Septic can **** off (little Father Ted reference there to Ireland, and play Cobh Rangers, Sligo Rovers and whoever else there is. They'll be out of Scotland (which they want) and be in leagues where there fan base is. all we'll need then is for the RTards to read a few history books, and sorted. If only the other 10 SPL clubs hadn't bottled it a few years ago, and walked, leaving the Ugly Sisters to play each other every week.
