To think, Johnson was allowed to sign three centre halves in the summer (including the renewal of Nyatanga's contract), and yet we've still had to bring in another one on loan. And some people are wanting to trust him with another transfer window!? Really!!?? It's the same up front - Wilkinson, Smith, Toney and Jackson - none of them have done anything and we still need two new strikers in my opinion. The only successful Johnson signing I can think of is Adam Hammill. If Mr Cryne is insisting that Johnson is the one who picks and signs the players, surely he wouldn't let him loose in January!?
I find myself hoping that Stones does not get sold in January and this is precisely one of the reasons why.
Toney looks okay I'd like to see him partner winnall. But we got rid of a young hungry rhys oates who must have been on peanuts to bring in Wilkinson and Smith is a joke.
What a ridiculous post. We all now know that LJ took the job with his hands tied, unable to get the players that he really wanted. We know that every time he brought someone in and sang their praises, in fact he had his fingers crossed behind his back and secretly he was thinking "Christ another turkey before Christmas". And now he'll get all his wishes coming true - his (transfer) window will open like Good King Wenceslas - and we'll all live happily ever after.
I tend to agree with this. I personally don't think Lee is the problem. I don't think we've been playing bad necessarily (although the game on Saturday was dire). I think the issue began with the summer recruitment plan, which is now beginning to fall apart as soon as we got to October and suspensions and injuries kicked in. Whilst on paper these young players should be able to run for ever, the fact of the matter is, that with a few exceptions, a lot of them have never played a full season in mens football. The loan signings we've brought in, mainly Long and Aidy White, are necessary because we didn't bring in players with their experience, knowhow and general fitness levels in the close season. I think with a few extra players capable of killing off, or seeing out a game, we'd have been much higher up the table. I can think of about 8 games this season where we'd have got at least 1 point, maybe 3 more in had we someone with a bit of knowhow. How much of a say, Lee gets in this recruitment is another matter.
