i remember reading posts over the last few dates that read 'storm before the calm' and 'there will bea mad rush Monday morning but the rest of the week you'll be able to walk in and and walk straight back out with tickets...'.
********. It was always going to be like this! If we are playing the 'real fans' card, real fans would have seen what it was like when stood for 5 hours for both Cardiff and Huddersfield away tickets. Real fans would have expected what happened today. I understand some folk would struggle to stand there for 5 hours be it for work or ill health or any other commitments. But seriosuly, today was always going to be like this.
To label fans with tickets and no season ticket 'glory hunters' is unacceptable. I am not a ST holder, and neither is the person i am taking, however we both have tickets via a family member. I have followed the reds for 15 years, 13 as a ST holder. The last 2 years have been financially pointless as i now work shifts and can not guarentee getting to certain games. Not enough to justify a ST anyway.
There is only 1 person to blame for all of this, and thats the person that decided 2 tickets per ST. I'll admit, i've only been able to get tickets due to this and had it been 1 per ST, i'd have been relying on them going to general sale, because i required 2. I attended the Colchester home game, not for a 'chance' of getting tickets, but because i am a fan of Barnsley Football Club, knowing full well i needed 2 tickets anyway. I paid my £20, sat by myself and cheered on the players like i have done for the last 15 years.
I feel sorry for anyone who has missed out, and anyone who knows me really will know that is said truthfully. Don't take it out on the club, take it out on the 1/2 people who were responsible for this happening!
Whatever happens, at least 2 non ST holders will be there as Barnsley fans, and shall cheer them on irrespective of the score and the performance on the day.

100% spot on My sentiments exactly. I've been a season ticket holder for 9 out of the last 12 years, live in London running a pub so absolutely no chance of having even one Saturday a month off. However I've made 3 or 4 games this season, and probably another 3 or 4 before it finishes. Not bad going I'd say, so like yourself I don't deserve to be put in the glory hunter bracket.
cant complain about what exactly? Could not get there today. The clubs rules clearly state that ST holders had to be there in person..clearly they were not. The clubs decision to make it 2 tickets per ST was disgraceful, incompetant, lacking PR savvy etc etc. and for that I'll complain. In fact I may not renew my ST unless I hear some sort of unreserved, unqualified apology along with other measures to ensure it never happens again. So I guess I'll be spending Sat afternoons finding other ways of entertaining the other potential supporters in the house.
Your right but... how many will be there who will not know half the team, who prob think that redfearn is still playing. Your right we are bitter. But I bet a large portion of those going have Barnsley as there second team and will return to watching "proper football" on sky sports. Enjoy it mate its not you a begrudge.
Daz, read it again mate... CERTAIN members can't complain.
The ones who posted on here, over the last few days, stating they would not be attending the box office today because it was a 'storm befoe the calm' and the fact that it would be a mad rush this morning but there would be tickets available the rest of the week.
It was never going to be like that. Never. Anyone who was around in the play off season should have seen today coming a mile off.
I totally agree that 2 tickets per ST is unacceptable and the right to complain about this is fully justified. I admit this in my original post.

RE: cant complain about what exactly? I fully understand how you must feel. I was fortunate enough to know someone to hand my ST to for them to go and queue while I was at work, but never ever did I think they would sell out in 1 day. Two tickets per ST holder was a disgraceful idea. They do not give a toss about the fans. No doubt they will be sending out the traditional begging letter come June, but don't be surprised if quite a few tell them where to shove it. Don't expect an apology from the club though as we've been taking this s**t for years. BFC don't do PR.
I don't see the relevance? Had we been playing Colchester away we wouldn't be having this conversation now. You could ask 5,500 people with tickets for the match the same question and the answer would be 'no'. Doesn't make them 'glory supporters' in any way. Colchester is further to travel, and the ticket prices wouldn't have been all that different.
To answer you question though, i probably would have gone. Its my day off on the 16th February and i try to attend as many games as i can when its my day off. I attended Colchester in the league last year, along with Southampton, QPR and various other long distance away games. And everytime it was because it was my day off at work, and i could afford to attend.

but Spartacus is right it clearly said that the season ticket holder had to be there, if that rule had been followed then there would still have been plenty of tickets left tomorrow and the next day, the only reason they all went today is because people bought 5, 10 or 20 tickets by breaking the terms and conditions of their season ticket.
I assumed "non transferable" meant that no one could gain entry to the ground using someone else ticket, but then again, I aint read any of the terms and conditions, because generally they are ******** anyway
Whose fault is that though? Its not the 'glory supporters' (like mejudging by some folk on here)who don't have season tickets. The club can't legislate for people who decided not to go today because they thought there would be plenty left tomorrow. But at the same time they were in the wrong for allowing 2 tickets per ST in the first place.
My argument is not at the likes of Daz and yourself...my argument is against the club for allowing this mess, and the 'real fans' who decided there would be plenty left tomorrow when quite clearly that was never going to be the case but then decide they are gonna complain!
The BBS is giving me a headache. I'd rather go do some ironing. I've made my point.
I sincerely apologies for taking 2 tickets away from 2 season ticket holders. And i truely mean that.

I don't blame anyone at all for getting tickets, the only people to blame work at barnsley football club. the rule said that the ticket holder had to be there in person, if that rule had been followed then tickets would have been available tomorrow and the day after, because it wasnt followed there isnt.
it probably does but the rule specifically about the liverpool game said that the ticket holder had to be there in person
It might not have been worded well, but I think the rules meant that the tickets had to be bought in person with season tickets present, rather than by post or phone.. Season ticket holders have never had to buy away tickets actually in person in all the time I've been attending games. We've always sent my dad for them, rather than getting them ourselves because we've always been in school/college/uni/school...
true, it did. cos i nearly shat missen. I did get tickets for others with THEIR (is this spelling correct, not at you ST) books, and would have hated to come back and give 'em their money back, and only me and my dad got tickets
To be honest, I don't have a problem with them letting someone else get your ticket, what I do have a problem with is them announcing that you have to be their in person yourself and then not following it, it means that anyone who didnt go today because they was following the rules missed out because the club ignored its own rule for reasons unknown. one big ****-up form start to finish
