Long shot I know but if Man United and Leicester both win their European competitions and finish outside the top four what happens? I doubt we'd be allowed six clubs in the competition, but we've had five before. But if we have five again who'd miss out? I assume it would be premiership top 3 and our two european cup winners Man United and Leicester, with whoever finishes 4th in the premiership missing out despite an extra spot on offer? Could get complicated depending on however it's worked out
As good an 18 months it's been, I don't think we'd be offered a place. Unless the criteria changes to "English club with the poorest discipline". Sent from space using satellites and things
I can't see Leicester doing it, but it'd be interesting to see what happens. If Man United win the Europa we'll have five teams in the Champions League, as Spain did when Sevilla won it last season.
If Leicester win the European cup they will take the place of the 4th place finishing side in the league so we still only have 4 clubs. That was a rule change introduced after Liverpool won and finished outside the top 4 and they had to fiddle the competition after the event No idea about if Man U with the Europa cup though. I would have thought that would give us a 5th place but I dont really know. Certainly its more likely than Leicester winning the champs league
Sevilla won the Europa League last season, and finished outside the top four. Spain had five teams in the Champions League at the start of this season. Looking at the teams left in the Europa League, it might be Man United's best chance at Champions League football next season.
