They've just shown a graphic on the Leeds game that says we're the second worst in the division based on this metric. We score just 8.5% of our chances. We'd be in the bloody playoffs otherwise! Incidentally only Middlesbrough are worse than us, with Leeds third.
And considering scoring hasn't been our problem this season, we must create more chances than practically anyone else.
Scoring more than the opposition has been a problem this season, otherwise we wouldn't be 2nd bottom!
Pass. I know there's a 'big chances' metric, that would be interesting reading. I'll do some digging.
Without the need to dig, I can advise that we are generally crap at shooting. But today we were specifically crap at shooting.
Im guessing a lot of our ‘chances’ are shots from outside the box, we have plenty, usually because we don’t/can’t really create any gilt edge chances in the box, the final balls and passes usually go astray and we have no one really to get on the end of crosses.
Could you dig for last season please? I’m sure we had the same issue last year about converting chances
I've struggled to find it for the Championship. Found a load for the Prem though - Gabriel Jesus is basically the biggest chance waster in the league for what its worth. Last year though the lack of quality in the opposition meant that we got away with it more.
We didn't win away today because firstly our finishing was mediocre bordering on non-existent, and secondly their goalie was not as obliging towards us as was the Fulham and Hull one. We ran the show again, when it came to possession. You can't blame the defence for the first goal because Brown's effort to clear the ball was woeful/pathetic. The second goal did involve a measure of skill on the part of their forward. We had enough chances.
Said this a lot last season and it's something we still do. Woodrow and Mowatt are the main ones. They just shoot from all sorts distances and places. So this does sometimes make it look like we have been massively on top in the game if you go off the stats.
