I heard James Cryne mention this at the Stats Bomb conference a few weeks back. Essentially saying that the direct playing style devalues the players. How well has that worked this season so far?
Apart from the demonstrable err mistake in that Chaplin was sold in the summer wasnt he and didnt the club say they turned down offers for players in January that makes sense if a you think any of our players are increasing in value this season ( OK maybe Collins) b you think having a realistic shot at the premiership is less important than selling a couple of players in the summer c players in a club finishing near the bottom will have higher values than those in the playoffs because they didnt play such pretty football still it explains why Conway was miffed we lost money in the playoffs success on the field isnt important all that matters is how much profit you can make . Not sure thats a sustainable way to run a club t
I think the lack of offers in the summer is more of a reflection on clubs' financial situation after a season behind closed doors. But, to be fair, the CEO's comments on the BBC interview where he said the Ismael style from last season would be unsustainable, are reasonable enough imo. Not enough to warrant attempting such a massive change in such a short space of time though.
That is quite an incredible snippet. How come they are now saying we didn’t have any bids when I could’ve sworn they were waxing lyrical about turning numerous bids down? Or have I made that last bit up?
So making the players look like complete amateurs week in week out will increase their value I don't think so. WOW the people running our football club are bigger morons than we thought and if Cryne junior believes that tosh too I include him in that.
Might also be something to do with clubs had massively reduced budgets due to covid. Winning football is winning football. We played extremely well in final third many times. We actually scored some cracking goals. Our centre halves defended really well and our wing backs caused havoc in games. Just because we didn't play pretty Barca / City football doesn't mean the players are rubbish. This CEO is a zealot, like his mate Pep at Man City. They only see football one way, pretty tippy tappy stuff. They don't care about the fans, or the club just their profits. Time to force these ******** out. I'm done with em!
We were supposed to be having investment to then go on and make profit and make the club a viable attraction to buyers . What in fact is happening by sounds IMO is Profit first and if any left from day to day existence of club it may get invested in some way . I’ll bet Brentford are glad they dodged this bullet ffs . They’d still be at Griffin Park yo yoing between Championship and div 1 and selling players for anything they could get .
