RE: oh , and when they do , that would be a great way to redistribute the tv money Be nice to see a few of the big boys have a bad season and struggle !!
however what the big teams really want is..... American football style no relegation-a closed league-beware!!
I think the top teams are greedy that's what More money per team then. They think about no-one other than themselves. And I don't see how it's any of FIFA's business.
I've had great fun trying to explain promotion and relegation to American pals. When I mentioned to one about Barnsley getting promoted to the higher league he asked "How long do you get to play there?" as I replied "For as long as we don't finish in the bottom 3"
If the English members of G14 want it to happen It'll happen . For all their talk , The English FA and the Premier League will bow down to whatever suits the likes of Manchester United , Arsenal and Liverpool . If they decide they want 18 clubs in the top flight , there'll be 18 clubs in the top flight . They'll do it by promoting one club and relegating three .
The Premiership only reduced their numbers in 1995. Thats when we finished 6th and missed out on the play offs. The Champions that seaon got promoted and teams finishing 2nd to 5th went into the play offs.
I like it as it is with 20 teams The only teams that would want it with fewer are those involved in Europe - who have big enough squads for it not to be a problem anyway. Of course there may be machievelian plots to move our better teams to a European league which makes the discussion irrelevant
Its crap. If they try it on I would back the FL to deny entry to the FL for Prem teams and withdraw FL teams from the FA cup.
**** em.

Can't see it happening myself The big clubs will be losing out on 2 lots of gate receipts which they won't like. Also, from what I read, it's being done to free up more dates for the international calendar which benefits league clubs not one jot.
RE: Can't see it happening myself Get European Champions League back to the way it started at a CUP. A knock-out cup, with only one entrant. Its name now is a frace as the majority of teams in it are not the champions of their country.
