Changing the subject - I had a great day yesterday (especially for anyone who likes the NFL)

I got to work on the sidelines at a Dallas Cowboys game. Now I know that many think that American football is a poof's version of rugby but it was a great experience. I actually have a lot more respect for these players. Some of the players are huge - built like two brick s***houses side-by-side.
The game is very tactical - 22 players all doing very precise jobs at exactly the same time. Got to work out with the kickers abd also catch punts - believe me - a lot harder than it looks.
It really opened my eyes though to how well professional players are treated - bags unpacked and packed for them. People to cater to their every whim and then tidy up after them. A lot of them are worse than kids - forgetting half their stuff in the locker room after the game. Made me really question why and how big players can complain about the money they are paid.
Pretty good day and the COwboys beat the 49ers 17-7

49ers aren't what they were. But Cowboys didn't win that easily and they are a favourite for the Superbowl with Terrell Owens in the team. I would say New York Giants are going to win. With Feely kicking and Tiki Barber catching and Eli Manning improving all the time as a quarterback. I think they will take some beating. Eli is getting better then Peyton in the quarterback role.

    Yes, I'm a teacher but...

I have a friend who works for the Cowboys and they needed some help yesterday.

Try telling that to Larry Allen

Used to play for the Cowboys but now plays for the 49ers. Weighs around 300 pounds and can bench press over 700 pounds. His job is stop players which he does pretty well - pads or no pads.

I agree that RL is a harder sport - don't think Union is.

The 2 Manning brothers play each other early in the season.

The Cowboys have taken on more than they can handle with Owens - he is a pain in the arse - very poor team mate.

    The Rock

I heard that it had gone downhill fast over the last few years. I remember when the village got snowed in and it was one of the only places with a generator. I remember heading down there on those nights and it feeling like a real local. Sitting with Mr. Spencer and Rex Roebuck hearing their old stories.

    Sounds like a good day

There was a 3 part series on Sky earlier this year with David James and Martin Johnson spending time looking behind the scenes in American Football. Just seeing the facilities at a college team astounded them.
