Ninety minute special on Channel 4 at 10-30 pm tonight featuring Kylie Minogue. Apparently one of her biggest fans is Simon from Barnsley who runs a group for folks with Special needs in the Barnsley area. One of his friends was telling me tonight that Simon is on tonight's show and that Kylie paid a visit to Barnsley in October to surprise him . Apparently, her car left the M1 and headed straight for the East Stand car park at Oakwell. Once there she was transferred to a different vehicle and made "undercover " visits to the Civic Centre and the Alhambra and apparently no one was any wiser that it was her.
I have a cousin with special needs who goes to that group and is on the show tonight. She knew it was her because my mum told me in October that she was going to be on telly with Kylie on Christmas day.
My friend was telling me, that regarding Kylie's visit in October, everyone in the group was sworn to secrecy so that when she showed up, it would be a total surprise for Simon. Some of the kids in the group were apparently so excited, they couldn't help themselves and told other people that they came into contact with. Makes you wonder what kind of reception Kylie would have got if a lot of folks had found out about her visit. They did really well to keep the whole thing under wraps.
