I can't understand why we won't match the £500,000 valuation if indeed we haven't as it states below. Charlie Adam will try to persuade boss Walter Smith he still has a future at Rangers before giving Blackpool his decision on a £500,000 transfer bid. Rangers accepted the Championship club's offer for the twice-capped Scottish midfielder at the weekend. But Blackpool boss Ian Holloway said: "He fancies the chance of still playing for them because he is a Rangers fan. "So he is going to see Walter Smith and hopefully he will be coming to see us on Thursday." Rangers are open to offers for most of their first-team players as they look to cut their debt and Adam was expected to complete his move on Tuesday after discussing personal terms with Blackpool. But he is eager to remain a Rangers player despite being loaned out to the Seasiders for the second half of last season. He is a bit confused about things because he thought he might have had a chance at Rangers And he wants to hear first hand from Smith that he is surplus to requirements when Rangers gather for pre-season training on Wednesday. "His agent has told us that, although Rangers have accepted our offer, he is a bit confused about things because he thought he might have had a chance at Rangers," Holloway told his club website. "The lad has heard lots of speculation about Barry Ferguson moving from the club." Adam would be the first player to be sold by Rangers this summer as Smith looks to trim his squad and recoup some money. Veteran defender Christian Dailly and midfielder Brahim Hemdani were not offered new contracts, while former captain Ferguson is being tipped to leave, with Birmingham and West Brom having expressed interest. Adam impressed during his loan spell with Blackpool while his Rangers colleagues clinched a league and cup double. Tony Parkes, who had been Blackpool caretaker manager for the latter part of the season, had hoped to make Adam's move permanent. His successor, Holloway, has continued the club's pursuit of the player. Barnsley had an offer for Adam rejected by Rangers this summer, while Preston have also expressed an interest, but Blackpool are the only club to meet Rangers' valuation of the player after increasing their initial bid. The left-sided midfielder made his Rangers debut as a teenager in May 2004 before successful loan spells at Ross County and St Mirren, where he won a First Division championship medal. A dead-ball specialist, he played a total of 89 games for Rangers, netting 18 goals for the club. He has three years left on his Rangers contract but struggled to hold down a first-team place last season, making 11 appearances, the final one in a 1-0 Old Firm derby defeat in December.
Just been talking to a friend who is an Hearts fan. I told him that we've been linked with Adam, and he said that he was 'highly talented' and could easily be a regular in any squad in Scotland, including both Rangers and Celtic. He said the only reason he can't get a game at Gers, is because of a fall out with Smith, due to Adam's late night drinking sessions, and allegations of drug-taking. Other than that, he said that he would do an excellent job for most Championship teams, and probably some Premiership teams. Late night drinking and drug-taking? Surely, he'd fit right in here then?
can't see him coming now anyway Sounds like we haven't matched Gers asking price, Blackpool have. End of, if Gers don't want him that is.
Maybe we just can't afford the £500k asking price for 2 players if Charlton are wanting something similar for Gray? Id be massively disapointed to see us miss out on him especially if he signs for Blackpool
RE: we got 600k for Muller! and £500k for Brum going up nt and a load of fans who are bairning over their season ticket cos they havent got their way over the choice of manager.
RE: Just been talking to a friend who is an Hearts fan. Yeah that put me off him last month when LDRed said the same.
Conspiracy theory? His agent is Kenny Moyes, brother of David, pal of Simon Davey. Maybe there was a deal possible for us, had Anderson gone to Bristol City. Perhaps now Moyes is using our interest (I bet he has contacts at Preston as well, given David Moyes' links there, to talk up both the transfer fee and the potential salary. Just a talking point!!
We might not know how much but according to Davey, if he signs 2 days before the kick off 'it won't break our budget'. Which suggests it's a nominal amount.
The recent 250k sale of Paul Anderson from Liv to NFor would give some idea at where to pitch an offer. They won't want much more than that. Maybe up to about 400k. Liverpool fans I speak to at work say he is miles away from the 1st team squad.
RE: thought Adam was from Rangers, and Hammil from Liverpool This bit of the thread was about Hammill. I think.
When Fat Paddy can get done for od-ing on Benylin... ...I find it hard to believe that a modern-day footballer can get away with indulging in the way you describe
According to the BBC website, although Rangers have accepted Blackpool's bid for Charlie Adam, the player wants to speak to Walter Smith to convince him that he wants to stay and fight for a place at Rangers. He is a Rangers fan and doesn't really want to leave apparently!
So the key to signing him is making Barnsley seem like Rangers. Maybe if we all go over to Manchester and trash the place?
RE: Just been talking to a friend who is an Hearts fan. Nice to see you believe any old gossip without any proof. You'd fit right in in my office at work.
