There was a foul on one of our players by that Brayford from the resulting free kick I think that the ref didn't give despite him giving free kicks to them everytime they fell over.
Hubby was convinced that the ref had accidentally left his cards in the dressing room before the first half. This was then confirmed in his mind when he booked someone not long into the second half (just to prove that he did indeed have them).
The ref had an absolute shocker. In a local derby you stamp your authority on the game early on. What did today's ref do? Let players get away with late challenges, glet them grab players by the throat and then allowed himself to be surrounded and screamed at by players without so much as uttering a word to them.
First half Pearson was lucky not to have been sent off for kicking Davies who was on the ground. One minute later guess who scores?
what, by booking everyone, making it nigh on inevitable he'll be forced to send at least one or two off later on? No don't agree. gave the match the best opportunity to pan out eleven v eleven, by implementing sensible decisions rather than rash punishments. The throat 'grab' was no worse than the kick to Davies when on the floor. For me what he did was not be swayed into making a decision that would influence the game when it was early on with tempers flared, as in any derby, if he didn't have to. Nothing was that bad so he was within his rights to let it go. He only started showing yellows in the second half, when the more cynical fouls and body checks occurred at both ends as the game stretched with us chasing it. He did give them a lot when they threw themselves to the floor - though this was invariably when the linesmen flagged for it so he had little option, can't really overrule if the lino is a lot closer. The ref was the least of my concern today, I actually thought he was ok.
It wasn't Davies who was fouled, think it was Flynn (I may be wrong) and he didn't kick the player he kicked the ball into the player, I've seen loads do that and never get a red card yet every time I've seen someone grab another player by the throat they've never got away with it like he did.
