Don't know if others have noticed but Charltons season in the mid to lower levels of the championship is misleading. In fact, they have the 4th best away record in the division... thats better than Brighton and loads better than Leicester. They average over a goal a game away and have a positive away goal difference. Their full away record is 8 wins, 6 draws and only 6 defeats. They also seem to have found the knack of scoring late goals in the second half of the season. Now, while I really hope they lie down and die on Saturday.... the facts warn us against expecting an easy win.
Agree. Fully expect us to be prepped properly though under Flicker. A draw will be a good result all things considered.
We will need to be every bit as good against Charlton as we were against Watford and Leicester but a win is essential.
Not sure I agree that a draw will be a good result to be honest. Whilst anything is better than nothing in every game, we probably need 2 more wins to be completely sure, and our home games are the obvious candidates as to where they are coming from. Out of our last 5 games, Saturday's game is, on paper, the most winnable game of the lot of them, and if we don't win it and results are not kind to us with the rest of the bottom group then I will go in panic mode. We really MUST win on Saturday.
I meant in the context of 2 very challenging away trips, and injuries to Etuhu and Delap, Crainie etc which seem to be stretching our resources, and us playing a side with an excellent away record. Obviously 3 points would be ideal, but I'll take a point.
Sorry for causing even more stress... I couldn't even listen last night to Barnsley Player.... but Derby's away form is nowhere near as good as Charlton.
I don't think a point is enough. I think we need another 6 minimum, so a win has to come from somewhere.
If we can get 4 points from Derby and Charlton I'd be happy. 6 would be brilliant and would certainly see us safe.
