Not that I agree with self-declaring something as 'official', but I thought it would be much better for us to have one thread where we comment during a particular game rather than have loads of new topics started that say stuff like 'FFS' or '1-0' or 'Get in!!!'...I'm sure you know what I mean. It seems most other club forums do this and it does seem a much better way of browsing through people's thoughts on a game - especially when you have hands like a bunch of bananas trying to use a smartphone. I'll make a start but feel free to ignore this, I know how much people fear change! 20th October 2012 Charlton v Barnsley Borrowed (nicked) from the BBC: TEAM NEWS Charlton winger Johnnie Jackson could return to the starting line-up after recovering from a hamstring injury. Danny Green is back after suffering a dead leg and fellow winger Jordan Cook returns from a hamstring strain. Barnsley may have a defensive injury crisis with defenders Jim McNulty (hamstring), Martin Cranie (ribs) and Stephen Foster (back) all doubtful. Midfielder Jim O'Brien remains sidelined after dislocating a shoulder and Mido is still unavailable. MATCH FACTS Head-to-head • Charlton are chasing a first win in six league games with Barnsley, since their 3-1 second tier success in August 1999, when Clive Mendonca bagged a hat-trick, including two penalties. • Barnsley registered their first ever away league win over the Addicks on their last visit to the Valley in November 2008, completing a 3-1 triumph in the Championship contest. • The South London club need to score twice to total 50 home league goals against the Tykes. Charlton Athletic • Chris Powell's mid-table side are hoping to notch their first back-to-back wins of the season, and their third victory in nine Championship outings. • They have scored four goals in their five home league games; only lowly Peterborough have been less prolific. • Just two of their 12 league goals have been netted in the first half-hour. Barnsley • The Tykes have won one of their last six, and are in danger of tumbling to three successive league defeats for the first time this season. • Their most recent maximum was the 5-0 thrashing of Birmingham at St Andrews on 22 September; the only league game this season in which they have scored more than a single goal. • The South Yorkshire club have lost four of their five league games on the road; no Championship club has lost more often on their league travels. Barnsley-line up: Alnwick, Stones, Wiseman, Foster, Perkins, Golbourne, Dawson, Mellis, Dagnall, Cywka, Davies My own thoughts: I've not seen all of our last few games but it seems we are playing teams off the park but not getting the results due to our inability to put the ball in the net. Maybe if we tried to be more direct in the final third rather than try to walk the ball in this could change as none of our strikers seem to be the most natural of finishers. We lack a plan B, bringing Harewood on for Davies is almost like accepting defeat. Danny Rose should be given at least half an hour if things need changing, the lad will never stop running and by all accounts does have a good finish on him. It's only a fiver in today so as you can imagine Charlton's own set of fair weather fans have turned out in force - there were only a few hundred tickets left this morning so there will be around 26,000 there today. This could work in our favour as if we retain possession like we have done recently then it won't be long before the crowd are moaning and groaning at their own players. Bets: I've had a few bets on this game. Craig Davies to score 1st and us to win 2-1 Mellis to score 1st Barnsley to win 4-0 (My lairy bet of the day) COME ON YOU REDS
Well I suppose we can't go to the end of time without ever coming back from a goal down! I'm sure if we do it once it'll start to happen more often, not that I can remember the last time we did it, was it just after the war?
Haven't got a clue what's happening as Player isn't working for me (and many others by all accounts), judging by the bits of text on the BBC website the game is pretty even. We've had two shots to their one, none on target, they've had two corners.
Come on uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeddddddddddddddddssssssssssssssssssss.
Usual is happening We're dominating possession, playing the better football and in complete control. Expect a 1-0 defeat.
Halftime Dominated possession but didn't test their keeper at all. Alnwick on the other hand had to pull off a couple of great saves despite Charlton doing nowt. According to Barnsley world at any rate.
