just mean more knobheads buying tickets to just run on the pitch and spoil it for the rest of us. At least if away fans have more seats, there's less chance of this happening. Anyway I hope we have a decent plan in place this season to make sure nobody runs on the pitch at full time.
Sounds like a plan. I mean Bradford for promotion to the premiership you could see why people ran on. But some just run on for the sake of running on, when there's nothing worth going on the pitch for.
If we are safe why not come out and do a lap round the pitch about 2.45. Those who would like to applaud the players would get there early to do so if announced. Anyone who runs on would miss game. They need to try something different.
It isn't possible to stop that amount of people running onto the pitch unless they have about 4 times as many stewards as they are anything from 60 to 110 stewards required at oakwell depending on how big of a game it is and 23 or them have to man exit gates as required by law so at best it means there would be 87 stewards to stop roughly 1500 people getting onto the pitch which just isn't possible the best they can is what they did last year which was let them one and then sweep the fans into the half closest to the ponte end and let the team come out behind them. The only way to stop the crowd getting onto the pitch would be to treble the amount of stewards there, since 1 the club won't pay for them and 2 no one really wants the job as you are generally treated like crap by some fans and don't get backed up by the managment i can't see it happening.
"It is a criminal offence to go on the pitch" Then bloody prosecute anyone that you catch going on then! Simples!
RE: "It is a criminal offence to go on the pitch" It is impossible to do so with such large numbers being involved i know of at least half a dozen who were prosecute after the final match of last year and they all got year long banning orders and fines but they simply don't have the numbers to get everyone and there isn't enough police at the last game for them all to be handed over to. I agree with the idea of they should all be arrested and prosecuted but it simply isn't possible unfortunatly and people know this so it isn't a deterrant for people cause they always think it won't be them and lets be honest most get away with it.
Kin Ell this post reminds me of the infamous Tommy Tyke post "only real fans were at Luton".. we want as many people as possible in Oakwell not just the "real fans"....some chavs will run on the pitch anyway you wont stop it... and why the **** should they have a lap of honour anyway.... come on oakwell make it a tenner a ticket.....STRONGER TOGETHER...!!!
I ran on the pitch last year. Straight over from the East to the west up the steps and out. gave me enough time for an extra pint before hometime!
You think people would buy tickets JUST for the thrill of running on the pitch? I doubt that. Anyway, a few coppers with dogs would stop it.
RE: You think people would buy tickets JUST for the thrill of running on the pitch? Horses are t best.
Can only do it on t last game really cos it buggers the pitch up but it is funny seeing a tide of knobs shittin emsens running back into the stands.

Was thinking dogs as more of a deterrent. . . like having them at the side of the pitch before the game finishes. Who would be the first to risk running on then?
