    So are all those whove been on their massively high horse on here because he was a Sheff Utd player be accepting they were wrong?

    Lets hope the girl now gets some sort of punishment for wrongful accusal

    Not at all. Just hate those little girls who shag footballers and cry rape to get a pay off. It doesnt help women who genuinely have been raped and so therefore, I'd argue that my viewpoint is more than valid.

    in essence because somebody thought it was OK to invite himself in, just like that!
    As far as I'm concerned I'm still mystified why his girlfriends dad hired a flash legal team and posted a massive reward for anybody who would stand up for him in court, rather than going after him with a pair of gelding tongs cos if somebody had treated my daughter like that I know which option I would have taken.

    Well his line of defence did change for this trial. Last time he couldn't remember who'd asked if he could join in or be sure who'd said yes. He was adamant this time. And two past sexual partners of the women were allowed to testify in court. Who were found after the offer of a reward from Evans was made public. And facts about the case were in the public domain. I had been expecting something more revelatory that had led to the quashing.

    Of course the jury can only go on the trial they've heard though, and just as in the first case we don't know any of the detail, only what's reported. The jury's legal judgement has to be respected.

    It never made sense that Clayton McDonald was cleared but Ched Evans wasn't.

    35 goals in his final season at Sheff U and he didn't finish it. He'll be playing Championship football next season.

    I suppose the time someone hacked into her phone where she had whatsapp messaging something along the lines of 'gunna make big money our of this' goes out the window then. So obvious from the very beginning what this was.

    Also, he never just turned up and let himself in. That was a room paid for by him.

    However long he served in jail, she should serve too.

    That is illegal in itself and quite easy to forge. Completely inadmissible in court and the person that did it should be facing a stretch inside - a minimum of 5 years.

    I'm not going to get involved in this but she went to the police after waking up in a room naked with no memory of how she got there. She didn't claim she'd been raped. It was McDonald and Evans who told police that they'd had sex with her. The prosecution pursued the case on the basis that she could not have been able to consent given the CCTV footage of her and that she had no memory of events. The jury took the view in the original trial that having gone back with McDonald he could have assumed some level of implied consent that Evans couldn't.

    If you want to blame someone then blame the CPS for pursuing the case, not the woman.
