Remember hearing at the start of the season how Graeme Souness needs to stop relying on Alan Shearer for 30+ goals a season. So they sign Micheal Owen! Good move cry the Geordies. How many seasons has Micheal Owen scored above 20 Premiership goals since he began playing. I'll give you a hint, there's a Z in there somewhere.
RE: Not even close fo'z'ur? I think he'll score goals for them and he is a top striker regardless of who might and might not have wanted him. He needs to fit into the right system though, I can see why Chelsea, Arsenal and Man U didn't go for him though, although I'm sure when he suddenly went to Real Madrid a couple of those clubs were scratching their heads thinking they'd missed an opportunity.
. , . ,,, new para Just thought I ought to let some else punctuate my post. I just fell out the window trying to read it. must try harder.
RE: Not even close Didn't do bad in Spain, something like 16 goals in 26 starts - highest goals per minutes on pitch ratio in Spain last season. Of course alot depends on what type of service he'll get - judging from Sunday's game that won't be much!
RE: Not even close I was surprised that he was kept on the bench so much. But that's what the 'bigger' clubs do, buy up all the talent and stifle promising careers. Not that everyone would agree, but in my eyes Alan Smith at Man U is one such example.
