The game will be played at Oakwell Stadium on Saturday March 8, 2008, KO 5.30pm. Following negotiations with Chelsea Football Club, the prices for this game are: Adults - £25.00 Senior Citizens (60 and Over) - £15.00 Juveniles (15 and under) - £15.00 Tickets will be available for Barnsley supporters in all areas of Oakwell Stadium except the North Stand. Barnsley Football Club examined the possibility of giving Chelsea supporters tickets in the West Stand which would have allowed Barnsley fans to sit in the North Stand. However, the capacity of the West Stand Lower would not have fulfilled the Football Association's regulations regarding ticket distribution and would have necessitated moving around 300 season ticket holders. Following discussions with South Yorkshire Police regarding safety and segregation it has been decided that Chelsea supporters will be seated in the North Stand. Tickets will go on sale to season ticket holders and Oakwell Centenary Society Members ONLY at 9.00am on Thursday February 21, 2008. Season ticket holders will be able to purchase their seat plus ONE additional ticket not currently occupied by a season ticket holder. Oakwell Centenary Society Members will be able to purchase ONE ticket only between Thursday February 21 and close of business (3.00pm) on Saturday March 1, 2008. Tickets will remain on sale to season ticket holders and Oakwell Centenary Society Members ONLY until close of business (3.00pm) on Saturday March 1, 2008. Any remaining seats (including those normally occupied by season ticket holders) will be released on General Sale at 9.00am on Monday March 3, 2008. Please note: Season ticket holders and Oakwell Centenary Society Members have between Thursday February 21 and close of business (3.00pm) on Saturday March 1, 2008, to secure their own seat for the game meaning there is no immediate need to rush for tickets. Supporters are requested to bring cash to the Oakwell Box Office when booking their tickets as this will speed up our customer service.
Well I have to say I am not impressed Firstly its unlikely that chelsea will bring anywhere near 6000. The decision not to move 300 ST holders poor. Any talk of discussions with SY police bizarre. Segregation could have easily been sorted. Secondly the pricing is plainly wrong, with the game on TV, raising adult prices by 3 quid a ticket and no U11's category. It could be a harsh lesson again when the ground is less than full.
