I know nothing about how much he is worth these days but is he likely to be sold for a profit (and did Everton have a sell on clause when they sold to Man City)?
Purely from an England point of view, I wish he'd go to Man Utd and play alongside Maguire for a season. Irrespective of the rather bizarre trend on social media of trying to bring down either / both players, I believe that they are the best pairing at the back. A season together would do wonders for England's chances in the Euros. Can't see it happening, sadly.
I think it depends on whether Everton have a sell on, right? If they have a regular sell on fee (not a % of profit, but a % of the sale) then we'll get our percentage of that Assuming we had a percentage of the profit made by Everton
We get 15% of any profit Everton makes but yes, I didn't realise that Everton may just have had a % of sale sell on (if they had one at all).
Because we only receive anything on any profit Man City make. We don't get a cut of every single transfer for life. So when the £60m/£70m rumours to Barcelona were circulating we were going to be quids in!
This would be a great move for Stones. He deserves to be playing regular football for a top six side and should be doing everything he can to make a move like that happen, over dropping to Leeds United's level like was being mooted in the past.
Needs to go to a team that play with a back 3 IMO ( so Chelsea should suit him well). With him being good on the ball and liking to step out of the defence and play a pass his style seems to suit a back 3 better. Was superb for England in the last WC when we played that back 3 with him Maguire and Walker.
No just Everton . We receive nothing from city they pay Everton we get it from them . If Man City have a sell on that goes to them then a per cent may go to Everton and a per cent of that to us . We only collect from Everton
I've always worked on the assumption that our sell on fee was built in and passed on. Otherwise what if Everton didn't agree a sell on clause? Then we wouldn't be entitled to anything? Intrigued on this as I've been thinking it out all wrong over the years potentially.
No we can only claim on the profits made by Everton From any sale of JS. So if Everton have agreed a sell on with Man City a % of that comes to us and if Chelsea sell him to Real Madrid for a profit a per cent goes to Man City then a per cent of that goes to Everton and a per cent of that goes to us . So in essence any profit whatsoever Everton make on JS a per cent of that profit goes to us
This all assumes Everton inserted a sell on. That isn’t necessarily that likely, City offered a lot up front.
That's why I asked the question in my OP. I do think that the amount of money they received may have meant that they didn't but I also seem to remember Everton fans saying at the time that they also had a 15% sell on.
Yep this is what I was saying. Obviously I didn't word it well. I was also saying though that it depends on what type of clause it is - they're usually now a percentage of the profit made, but they can sometimes be a percentage of next sale (total, not profit). Who knows what clauses Everton have, if any, but there could be a fee for Everton and therefore us if it was just a percentage of the next sale (not profit). I personally don't think Everton would have a clause like that because of the size of the £50m fee
