League Two Chesterfield are to open talks with a number of their squad. The Derbyshire outfit are pushing for a play-off berth and are coming off the back of a 15-match unbeaten spell. Now manager Roy McFarland is looking to tie down some of his prized assets with up to nine players set for talks. Wayne Allison, Derek Niven, Steve Blatherwick, Shane Nicholson, Gareth Davies, Adam Smith, Carl Muggleton, and Aaron Downes are amongst those set to meet with McFarland. ''Discussions have started. We're looking at certain players and making decisions about them," said McFarland. ''Over the next week or so I hope to get one or two things tidied up. ''Some players might not want to get things sorted but I cannot answer for them.'' ff
