Given todays news that another decent player has turned us down, if its down to wages again then Im very disappointed. I can understand the clubs policy on wages and why its in place but surely, as this division improves year upon year, we will succumb and end up back in league one sooner or later. The only way the club is going to afford to up the ante financially and not have to scrape around abroad is if more supporters start to get down to Oakwell but who apart from us die hards will turn up to watch whats being currently turned out every week?

perhaps the £15m thats apparently on offer next season

to Championship clubs, could be taken into account when we look at he possibility of signing an established Championship player?

    It's not simple to me

I don't understand how it is a "simple fact". If it really were that simple, why is it that we don't do it?

In fact, the way things are going with the economy I would have throught that projected income from gate receipts etc would be falling, both in real terms and absolute terms. If most of our fans are on the dole and we sign Ronaldo and Kaka, would they suddenly find the funds to go and watch them?

You may be right, you may be wrong, but it is far from simple.

Yes, but it may be the saviour, if only for this season..

Need to stay up this year, next season's another fight if you like. Perhaps we ought to get the players in now.

    Norwich City prime example

They had a representative on radio last week saying they needed 50,000 fans to turn up every week to break even. They are losing money big style.

Before anyone says owt. I know thats more than their ground holds but thats was the figure he stated.

    Fantastic business planning model

    1) Buy loads of players for high fees on high wages.

    2) Gamble on extra income from fans flocking to the ground to watch the superstar players win every game

    3) Eventually realise that you need 50,000 fans to just break even

    4) Despair because that's way over your stadium capacity

    5) Flog the players at deflated prices in a fire sale, and slide down the league

    6) Flirt with admin, relegation but just survive

    7) Have the piss taken out of you relentlessly on bulletin board websites

RE: perhaps the £15m thats apparently on offer next season

Where has £15m come from? It was announced that it would be £3m per club.

"Early estimates suggest that each Championship club will receive just under £3 million a season - a considerable increase on the £1.2 million they are currently paid."

From the Telegraph in Nov 2007.
