Come on then.. How many of you have refused to buy caged chickens or their eggs due to the recent publicity ??? I know i'll never buy battery chickens or eggs again...
I've bought free range eggs and free range chicken for years In fact, for as long as I've been buying eggs and chicken I reckon. Even had a free range turkey for Christmas.
RE: I'll buy whatever is cheapest! nt Trust me mate, if you'd seen the way they're treated you'd pay the extra couple of quid.
RE: I'll buy whatever is cheapest! nt its still meat. At the end of the week when I'm in the supermarket, smartprice or free range? has to be smartprice all the way.
Hugh Fairy Long-hair wants to live in the real world. People by whatever is cheapest. Two for a fiver? Or one for a tenner. Its a no brainer. The whole programme was self promotional ******** by a man who just happens to sell his own free range chickens at fifteen quid a pop. That said, I watched a programme he did last night on a fishing boat, where they caught fish, and cooked it within half an hour was class. So, in conclusion, I don't really give an eff.
As Jay has I have eaten free range chicken and eggs for years At a no point have I paid anywhere near 15 quid for a chicken.
Its at the very most £2 more expensive per chicken. I suppose you wouldn't be able to afford it if you were eating 40 chickens a week.

RE: Hugh Fairy Long-hair wants to live in the real world. You're missing the point mate... Its not about the taste or the cost (although they do taste better and cost a little more)... its about supporting cruel industry.
RE: Hugh Fairy Long-hair wants to live in the real world. I dont have to think about that. I do have to think about how much cash we have.
Recently in ASDA The free range chicken breast fillets have been about the same price as the normal ones. Whole chickens are a couple of quid more expensive. Haven't been able to find any free range stuff since the chicken programmes have been on telly though.
RE: good for you! Again mate, its not about you... its about the poor chicken that spends its entire life in a cage as big as a milk crate and never see's sunlight or a blade of grass !!!
You'd be suprised The fat content in a battery chicken is anormous in comparison to its free range brother.
Plus the taste is far better.
I don't for one minute blame anybody for eating battery raised chicken, I just think the upgrade is worthwhile for the amount of money we are talking.

Thats the problem now as demand has far suceeded supply.
We need some free range chicken and fast.
How the hell are we going to do that!?
Hmm.

RE: Thats the problem now as demand has far suceeded maybe it will bring the price down? the new demand?
