As part of a Sports Journalism assessment for uni, I got to spend the evening at Chorley FC's ground Victory Park. I got to watch them train and then got to interview manager Matt Jansen who took over from Garry Flitcroft (Yep Dave's brother) in the summer who switched his role at the club to director. I must say how accommodating the media person was and both the chairman and manager were very friendly and clearly have lofty ambitions for the club, Chorley are currently rebuilding the South Stand as we speak. In regards to the training, there was a lot of banter between the players but at the same time Jansen was quick to hand out constructive criticism where it was required. Just thought I'd share this as I really do think this could be another non-league fairytale story and with them playing in the final FA Cup qualifying round soon against Northwich Victoria they could be potential opponents in Round 1 for Barnsley. Definitely a club I'm going to be following with interest after the great evening I had today.
Sad how an accident wrecked his very promising career. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/8647167.stm
Vaguely remember him getting called up for England in the early 00's. Don't think he played mind. Was a very promising young player. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
