With the odd Blunt, and a Barnsley fan (seems a really really intelligent, good looking bloke, too) thrown in for good measure. http://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/176252-chris-morgan-retires/ The video still makes for grim viewing, and I still can't see how anybody could defend him.
There's the odd blunt in there. They always make me laugh how they say, Hume 'walked into' Morgans elbow. How can you get a fractured skull by 'walking into' an elbow. How can it not be intentional. He's had to swing his elbow at some real force to cause the damage he did. Isn't it strange the lengths some people will go to, just to defend their team and players, despite knowing deep down they're in the wrong. The man was a thug, he knew what he was doing, he's got a history of it, it was only a matter of time before someone got seriously injured. Oh and that one, Hume made the most of it. Lord give me strength. He was in intensive care ffs. Idiots.
I really don't see how any one can view that video and not think it was deliberate. I'm not saying he intended to fracture his skull but he did intend to tell Hume he was there and possibly put him out of the game. Morgan clearly looks over at Hume as the ball is coming, and throws out his elbow whilst not attempting to jump. It's clear as day - it was the clearest thing I've ever seen on a football pitch, I was at the game and right in line to see the incident, I thought then it was intentional and the video just backs that up. People are entitled to their own opinion, they are not entitled to their own facts!
The only reason Morgan didn't get a Red was that only minutes before 2 players (Eghiog [?], and De Silva) had been sent off. I don't believe Morgan intended the injury that occured, but it was reckless and deliberate.
a) The referee bottled it. b) Morgan intended to put Hume out. b) Barnsley lost their £1.2 million pound player. No brainer
It's fair to say that many of the views on the owlstalk site about Morgan and the elbow incident reflect mine. He's a vile thug and football is better without cloggers like him. Hopefully one day fate and justice will catch up with him and he will get what he deserves - the sooner the better.
I agree that he meant to elbow him, and he should have been sent off. I would also add that elbowing is the most cowardly act on a football pitch. Playing centre half I had my nose broken by someone who knew exactly what he was doing. However, we have to be careful with our moral outrage because the worst elbow I ever saw was by Andy Johnson (when at Notts Forest) on Patrick Suffo, and at the time of the Hume incident he was a Barnsley player. I can't remember anyone saying we shouldn't have signed Johnson. Also we were after Fuctas earlier this summer when all he did last season against us was swing his elbows in to our centre-half's faces
