I've never met Chris Morgan, but I know a few people who have. They all agree he is a nice bloke. Someone who is close to the football club says he was always willing to go to local clubs, schools etc, often at short notice, to promote BFC. However, throughout football history, there are stories of people who are as nice as pie off the pitch, but animals on it. Nobby Stiles was one of the nicest people you could meet, but when he went on the pitch, he was vicious. An aunt of mine worked at Oakwell when Norman Hunter was in charge, and she said he was a lovely bloke. Having watched him for us, and, occasionaly, when he was at Leeds, he must have eaten raw meat before he went on the pitch, because some of his tackles made me wince. My point is that the comments of Radio Sheffield presenters that he is a nice bloke are probably correct. But they don't have to face him on a football field, when his demeanour can change from nice family bloke, to aggressive footballer. I have no doubt that Chris Morgan did not intend to cause the injuries that he did to Iain Hume. But he did intend to use his elbow to foul him, and he didn't care what injuries might be caused by that elbow. For that reason, he is guilty of violent conduct on the field, and the FA, no matter what excuses they drag up, should act now and send a message out to the rest of the football community, that the actions we saw that Saturday afternoon will not be tolerated, and the punishment imposed will be appropriate to that conduct.
Nice as pie off the pitch? Your joking aren't you? He was just as violent at school as he is on the pitch!
I presume you are refering to Chris Morgan And as I said, I have not met him personally. I think you have missed the point of the post.
