Re: laiks when he wants to Knowing a tiny bit about footballers and their earnings etc, I know full well Chris has made an absolute fortune the last five, six months. Never moved home (retained his Barnsley property, was in rented property down south), earned a great signing on fee, got a hefty wage rise on a lengthy contract, now moves back up north into a home he's paid for playing locally again but earning more than he was six months ago. But aye, it's not about the money, he just wants to play football. If that was true he'd have signed for United in the summer. Now, he gets to play for them whilst earning Championship money. He's not daft. And none of this is criticism because I like the bloke and enjoyed him as a BFC player. But I know full well that money is the first priority for footballers, especially at his age. I'd be exactly the same. I wish him nowt but the worst at that club, mind.
Re: laiks when he wants to He's done right, needs to secure his future. But that bit about laying his body on the line for people he thinks deserve it. Baiscally Hyppia's not loved him enough... let's see how Non League Nigel measures up.
Re: laiks when he wants to He's played a blinder to be fair. All he has to do now is notch double figures between now and May and with the interest from other clubs he can milk as much as possible from the blunts.
Re: laiks when he wants to he's back at a level more suited to him in my opinion,i never thought he was of the standard that some others did.
I always liked Chris when he was here and rate him highly. However, he's left, moved on & so have I. Selling him & releasing the money we were paying out as a salary has enabled us to bring in the likes of Berry, Hourihane & Winnall.
Re: laiks when he wants to That's very true. Plenty don't want to do anything once their playing days are over so try and milk those few years of opportunity for all they can.
Re: laiks when he wants to Secure his future is ******. What gives footballers the right to put their feet up at 35, what is wrong with them getting another job. There is far too much money in football and it all starts at the top. There is something drastically wrong when average third tier players are earning the sort of money that COG is earning.
