Ipswich fan in peace. Plenty of rumours going around our way/twitter, that O'Grady will be on his way to us this summer. Anybody heard anything this end? If he does sign, what could we expect? Cheers.
First of all I'm hoping its not true and he's staying with us but in all honesty I think he will leave. If you have a decent fast forward and a system to suit he will be a great asset . Holds the ball up well will give100% .in a decent team 18 plus goals a season player with plenty of assists.
No heard he was off to wednesday last week but ipswich now you havnt heard the romour about you taking tom kennedy aswell have you by anychance?
Cracking championship player when he has decent service. At the start of the season when we played an expansive style he scored plenty but the problem was we were conceding even more. The new manager tightened things up but it meant we both scored & conceded less so O'Grady didn't score as many. On Saturday as we were already down Wilson let the lads go out & play with freedom & he scored twice. You've been watching him for months. No idea if an offer will be made though. Look out for Scott Hogan too
Sounds plausible that he'll go to you tbh, big Mick will know all about him. Personally think he's quality, scored 11 from open play in a side that created next to nothing all season. He's strong, holds it up well and can finish when he gets the chance. He's a proper centre forward. His main problem is that he spends too much time pissing about on the wing when he's meant to be up top, I don't know if it's tactics or otherwise but it takes a lot away from his game. With decent service and good players around him he'll be a good signing, if you do what we did and stuck him up front on his own and ping it up to him with no-one within 30 yards of him he'll do **** all, he's not Messi afterall. Will be gutted if (when) he goes but he's a top player and person, deserves to be playing in the Championship but can't see him going to anyone above a club like Ipswich (no offence intended whatsoever, he just won't be a Prem player). Good luck to him if you get him. Ps, if you do take him we'll do you a BOGOF offer and let you have Kennedy for nowt. You've not lived til you've seen a full season of Kennedy chipping aimless balls up to O'Grady on the left wing.
Mick McCarthy nicking our 'star player'... Well that's never happened before! Cough* McIndoe Cough* Hammill
Interesting, I get the impression that he's a Mick type of player. Personally feel we're in need of a striker, seem a bit short up top with just Murphy and McGoldrick? Keep an eye out for Scott Hogan? Whys that? Are we interested in him?
Reading around. He did it at Rochdale. He did it at Wednesday. He did it under flicker and now under wilson. Unless all 4 told him to play like that I would say it was down to cog and not tactics.
Interesting, how'd you happen to know that? Seems like another mick player, lower league signing, I.e Jarvis, Kightly.
If he did it without the manags saying so you'd have to question what they we up to for not noticing! It was a definite tactic at Dale.
Scored 15 goals in a side where he was often played as a lone striker and had very little support from the midfield. Says it all really. Does have spells where he's very isolated but then pops up and scores 2 goals. Likes to go out wide which is frustrating seen as he's incapable of beating a man, give him a half chance though and he'll bury it. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Play him with another striker and he'll be great, Ipswich is one of the teams i'd like to see our players go to. But... You don't need him.. we need him more..
He does this trick that I've never seen any other player do. It should be called the Chris O'Grady turn. Well, it is, by some of us, but it should be celebrated far more than just in Barnsley. It's every bit as skilful and unique as the Cruyff turn and to see something in football you haven't seen before is extremely unusual. I'm not taking the piss, it's real. It works too, every time, defenders are genuinely bamboozled by it. From having a defender right up his arse, O'Grady is suddenly three yards away. Was gunna put summat abart that in reply to Archey, that sez it all though even the overuse of his right peg. He gives his all and that includes the pre match warm up where he is the only one that just doesn`t go through the motions.
