Although, I have just made a spreadsheet at work to monitor some new sh it I need to do in December and it has a festive red and green theme...
Ours goes up next Friday... well two trees. Given I get an additional Christmas dinner for every tree I put up in our house.... I'm pretty content with the arrangement.
Christmas lights are okay (you can call them "seasonal lights" until December), anything beyond that is too much for the next three weeks or so.
I got my first Christmas card yesterday its not going up anywhere until December though Person sending it possibly had an excuse as they had moved and put the new address in but even so...
Our decorations go up 2 weeks before Christmas and come down a week after. We tried 3 weeks before once, but then they ended up coming down on the 27th cos we were sick of them!
You can't get much more traditional than Christmas and the tradition is 12 days of Christmas. So mine will go up 12 days before Christmas day and come down 12 days after. Thats 24 days that she make me put up with all this festive 5hit.
Goodness me, what a load of misery gutses you are, deary deary me! ;-) My missus absolutely loves Christmas. And I must admit, the thing I really miss most is going to Christmas markets across Europe and just feeling a little bit of festive traditional magic and a chance of some proper snow and there being a chill to the air. We put them up a week earlier last year, but given we'd been indoors since early March, I think we were allowed to try and take solace in the Christmas season. Seeing as we're another year on, I'm a little surprised I've not been asked to put them up earlier still.
Don't get me wrong, we do Christmas and we do it well, it's my favourite time of the year! But, decorations up for too long drives me crackers! I will however be cracking open the sherry as soon as it's 1st December!
anything earlier then the 4th of December weekend is wrong! We did a street Christmas light switch on last year to cheer everyone up, and it was so good we're all doing it again this year!
